  • Today we will be talking about the Cell Cycle
  • Their is something in Mitosis called the interphase, the interphase includes the G1,S,and G2.
  • G1 is an intermediate phase occupying the time between the end of cell division in mitosis and the beginning of DNA replication during S phase.
  • In S phase, the cell synthesizes a complete copy of the DNA in its nucleus.
  • After the G2 phase Mitosis happens, During mitosis, a eukaryotic cell undergoes a carefully coordinated nuclear division that results in the formation of two genetically identical daughter cells. Mitosis itself consists of five active steps, or phases: prophase, prometaphase, metaphase, anaphase, and telophase.
  • During the G2 phase, extra protein is often synthesized, and the organelles multiply until there are enough for two cells. With all this activity, the cell often grows substantially during G2.
  • The steps of Mitosis are,1) Prophase: chromatin into chromosomes, the nuclear envelope break down, chromosomes attach to spindle fibres by their centromeres 2) Metaphase: chromosomes line up along the metaphase plate (centre of the cell)
  • Lastly G0 is the phase where cells spend their time resting.
  • 3) Anaphase: sister chromatids are pulled to opposite poles of the cell 4) Telophase: nuclear envelope reforms, chromosomes unfold into chromatin, cytokinesis can begin The order of the stages of mitosis can be remembered using the mnemonic
  • I hope you guys learned about the cell cycle. Now class Is dismissed!
