President Jackson was entirely against the idea of nullification. Jackson thought that if one state could just brush off the conflict with federal law, it would just start a separation/secession of the states in the US. Andrew Jackson then pushed soldiers to South Carolina to "Force Bill" that could give Jackson military power to enforce it if necessary.
If one state could ignore federal laws it lead to the countries breakup.

States have the right to reject federal laws that they believe are unconstitutional.
The Nullification Crisis of the 1830s was a conflict between South Carolina and President Andrew Jackson's federal government tariffs. The state of South Carolina (the South) declared the right to nullify laws. Showing state vs. Federal authority traction. John C Calhoun argued that states had the right to refuse the federal laws if they were deemed unconstitutional.

If I lower tariffs will you back down?
Alright Ill back off!
In the end, everything ended peacefully, uniting the North and South even more. The Abomination of 1830 was resolved when Jackson and Clay declared peace by lowering the tariff, and the South said they wouldn't secede.
