- "Just at dusk the sky opened and began to rain. not light spring showers but cold soaking torrents of rain."

- "So many slaves" he said softly
- "i aint a slave" she said
- Character vs Self
- perhaps she could stop by once more at the mill... but, no she couldn't stop by again and ask for charlie and have him be at school again.
- She was drenched and it affected her because she got cold and wet it slowed her down from her trip.
- Lyddie did not want to be called a slave by Ezekiel so they argued.
- she wants to go see charlie but she wont because he might be at school again.
