  • From late May to December of 1919, approximately 25 race riots took place. Upon African American soldiers returning, the idea of gaining respect in exchange for their military service did not reflect as they hoped.

  • Approximately 112,000 people were sent to assembly centers, awaiting transit to relocation centers for the duration of the war. The process Japanese Americans endured involved being tagged, processed, and moved to relocation centers in remote places on the West Coast.

  • On March 29th of 1942, military issues an order known as Public Proclamation No.4, as this began the evacuation and detention of Japanese Americans on 48 hours' notice. Most people were not even given an opportunity to pack, but simply leave their businesses, leave your home, and all your possessions.
