- The community issue discussed in this scene will be the issue on whether or not abortion should be legal.
- In this argument there are two sides: “Pro Life” meaning make abortion illegal and “Pro Choice” meaning keep abortion legal.
- This is such a big and important issue because it was recently leaked that the Supreme Court is deciding whether they should keep or overturn Roe vs Wade. This was the decision made on January 22, 1973 that the right to get an abortion is protected in the constitution.
- Let’s take a look at the different opinions between a “Pro Life” person and a “Pro Choice” person.
- (Pro Choice)
- Why should we deny women the right to their own bodies! Who has the say to what you have to do with your body? No one! Also how do you know the circumstances for these abortions? They could be financially unstable, in a threatening position for a child, or any other reason. It is not our decision to make abortion illegal, it is the choice to each individual pregnancy.
- Roe vs Wade should be overturned! It is killing innocent children! Through abortion we could have killed the person who could of cured cancer! This has to stop immediately no matter what no baby should die through abortion.

- Fighting for rights of people!?!? What about the right to whether or not you want to have your child or not? Does that right just get forgotten. It was even established in 1972 that the right to a legal abortion was protected by the Constitution!
- It doesn’t matter the situation! Abortion should be illegal no matter what!! Murder is illegal so why isn’t this! We fight so hard for all these rights of people and yet we are not giving everybody the right to live? Life starts at conception and so do you rights to live.

- (Pro Life Person)Well apparently most states don’t see at most importance of this protection because the following map shows which states have legal abortion protected by their state laws.
- (Pro Life Person)As you can see a total of 24 states would likely or might ban abortion if Roe vs. Wade gets overturned. That is almost half the country that does not believe in abortion! Even with this number abortion is still legal, well until the Roe vs. Wade case gets closed.
- As you can see there is a lot of controversy on this topic but we’ll have to wait to hear the Supreme Court’s decision to see whether abortion will stay legal or not.
