- No, I've never heard of them.
- Basically, you buy a small part of a company, and when they do well you gain money.
- That sounds like free money! Did you buy some?
- Yup, you should too! The company I invested in always tells me that they are growing and doing well, and I am making some money.
- Nice! I'll probably buy some later.
- A couple days later...
- Hi! Did you buy any stocks yet?
- Hey! No, I was just about to though!
- Well don't! I just lost quite a bit of money. The company told me they were doing well, but in reality they were struggling!
- That's horrible! Guess I won't be buying stock anyways...
- What's worse is that I borrowed some money from the bank to buy more stock, so now I am in debt too!
- Wow, it's going to take a while to recover from that.
- Good thing I didn't buy any stock yet...
