- But unknown to either of them there was an assassination plot from an organization called the black hand

- During the parade an unsuccessful attempt is made on the archdukes life
- while the archduke speeds of to the government office to complain about the lack of security at the event Gavrilo Princip laments about his groups failure
- while on the way out of town the archdukes driver makes a wrong turn and stops in front of princip

- seeing his opportunity princip pulls out his gun and shoots both the archduke and his wife
