- Rising action
- On a yacht. Tense and misty atmosphere. Whitney and Rainsford were introduced. Whitney tells tales about a mysterious island but Rainsford is said to not believe in such.
- Climax
- Rainsford hears three gunshots and falls off the rocking boat. After swimming he strands on a beech scared the gun shots may reach him.
- Falling action
- Rainsford is found by a rather large man who invites him to dinner. The man goes on to talk about his addiction to hunting which led him to turn the island into a hunting ground. After a longer chat Rainsford is met with some terrifying information. The man hunts people.
- Resolution
- Rainsford is given a choice wether he chooses to be a hunter or a human prey. He reluctantly disagrees to hunt humans and from there on out Rainsford becomes a living prey... He runs and hides around the island seeking protection.
- He gets chased multiple times by the large man and even dogs while trying to find a way to escape. He runs and hides and even traps for survival.
- In the ending the Large man, Zaroff, proclaims that either Rainsford or him will be sleeping in a bed while the other dies.
