In fourth grade, Jeffery meets in best friend, Tad. He's shocked when his teacher puts the new kid next to him. Then, he realizes he's bald and that the new kid had cancer, too.

Jeffrey is on his way too class when he sees that a new girl has dropped her stuff in the middle of the hallway, and bends down to help her. He meets Lindsey, the girl of his dreams.

During gym class Flash comes up to Jeffrey, telling him that he doubted Jeffrey and Tad. But then he saw Jeffrey's determination and how he pushed Tad so that he would walk. He looked past their physcal appearances (wimpy and abnormal) and saw the kind of people they were on the inside.
