Police Brutality

Police brutality is excessive use of force by law enforcement in the line of duty. It could violate a person's rights and put their lives at risk. It is an abuse of power by police officers and experienced mostly by minorities.
An example of police brutality is the murder of George Floyd that occurred in 2020. A police officer put his knee on the neck of George Floyd preventing him from breathing.
It is our responsibility to protect and serve every citizen. We as law enforcement must hold each other accountable and to a higher standard.
It can cause a distrust in the community. It harbors fear and discourages cooperating or contacting law enforcement. Accountability must be taken and change implemented to prevent violence.
