- It was a dream come true for Catherine to finally move into the House of Mercy. however she spent a lot of time in Kilmainham because William was ill. She often took the children, especially the younger ones to end the day at the house of mercy. Robert was sensible, but willie was a handful as she would scurry around the house to look for him.
- When William died suddenly, it was a tragic time; five children now orphaned. Catherine took on responsibility of them. There was always some sadness but Catherine trusted in God. Despite all, she continued to spread God's lobe to the countless souls in Dublin.
- During her works, she was visited unexpected by the Archbishop Georgine Moore urged that she would want to accept his visit, this brought some suspense but Catherine took a deep breath and prayed Jesus as she walked out to greet him.
