Photosynthesis & Cellular Energy

Storyboard Text

  • Slide: 1
  • Cellular respiration is the set of metabolic reactions and process to take place in the cells of organisms to convert nutrients into energy (ATP). This can be completed in 3 processes Photosynthesis, Aerobic, and anaerobic respiration. It also occurs in the mitochondria and uses oxygen to break down foods.
  • Photosynthesis is a cycle in only plants that takes in Carbon Dioxide and pushes out oxygen. Its preformed in the Chloroplasts which contains Thylakoids.
  • Slide: 2
  • Well of course there is more! If you're ever wondering what makes the plant green is the Chlorophyll. That captures the different wavelengths. There is also this thing called the Calvin cycle and it uses energy from ATP and NADPH to convert Carbon Dioxide into Glucose.
  • Chemosynthesis is a process similar to photosynthesis but the difference is that it is primarily bacteria. It produces organic matter (food) by using chemical energy from inorganic compounds.
  • Is there anymore to do with this???
  • Slide: 3
  • That was fun! Did you know that Glycolysis is a sequence of 10 enzyme reactions that convert into glucose. The Krebs cycle kinda sounds like crab but anyways it's a series of chemical reactions that occur in the mitochondria of almost all living cells.
  • I know right! The Electron Transport Chain sounds so cool! It's kinda like a relay race in the mitochondria where high energy electrons are passed from molecule to molecule.
  • Fermentation is also cool but weird at the same time. It's just when organisms convert carbohydrates into alcohol anaerobically releasing energy.
