- After the party, Romeo ran away from Benvolio and Mercutio. Mercutio tried to tease Romeo to make him come out, but he didn't. Benvolio gets tired and they leave.
- Benvolio! Have you seen Romeo? He probably ran away to seek his lover!
- Yes, he had jumped over the orchard wall! Do not call out to him. If he hears you, you'll make him angry.
- Romeo stands below Juliet's balcony and proclaims his love to her. Juliet returns his feelings of love. They plan to get married and Juliet will send a messenger to confirm their marriage the next day.
- But soft! What light through yonder window breaks? It is the east, and Juliet is the sun...
- Wherefore art thou Romeo? Refuse not to be a Montague! 'Tis but thy name that is my enemy. Thou art thyself, though not a Montague.
