- Hi my name is A. P.J Abdul Kalam and I am going to tell you the story about my teacher who made me realise the goal in my life.
- I remember my teacher Shri Siva Subramania Iyer who taught me in 5th grade. One day he was teaching about the flight of birds. For twenty five minutes he explained points like lift, drag, etc.
- Then after class he asked us if we understood what was taught in class. But me and some other students said no.So,that evening he took us to the seashore. Drawing our attention to the seagulls flying in formation, he explained everything again. We were so amused as we started to recall what we learned that morning.
- We learned everything with an example in front of our eyes. This is proper teaching and learning but for me this wasn't just learning . That evening in the seashore of Rameshwaram I decided that I wanted to study all I could about the science of flight.
- I asked my teacher for some advice. He told me I should finish class 8 to go to high school then to college. So,as he said when I went to college I chose physics and then went onto studying engineering in the madras institute of technology. There I took up aeronautical engineering.My life transformed.
- I became a rocket engineer , an aerospace engineer , and a technologist. The memory of my teacher teaching and encouraging to ask any doubt stayed with me all my life. It proved a turning point in my life. Shri Siva Subramania Iyer was the catalyst who ignited our our young minds by allowing to ask any doubt then answering until we understood.
- This is one of the stories in my life, which truly was a turning point in my life and helped me to lead a successful and happy life. I hope it is inspiring to all.
