- During the WW2 the United States ordered to remove all Japanese people even if citizens of the US from military areas and surrounding communities and put them in detention camps.Korematsu didn't want to leave is job and home and asked to the American Civil Liberties Union for help at the Supreme Court.The Court ruled, in a 6-3 decision, that the detention was a “military necessity” not based on race.
- After many black students were always rejected from public schools in many states of the US because of segregation. The Supreme Court decided to hear the case of all the students that were saying that segregation was unconstitutional.They won the case by a 8-1 vote and the Supreme Court also said that segregation was unconstitutional and was against the 14th amendment.This was a huge step by the United States against racism
- Miranda was interrogated by authorities without being informed of their 5th amendment.When the case arrived at the Supreme Court they voted 5-4 in favor of Miranda since Miranda had the right to remain in silence and to have an attorney during the interrogations.This case shows that suspected people have always the right to a constitutional process under the 5th amendment.
