Spanish Inquisition

The Inquisition began in 1481 in Seville, having been passed by Pope Sixtus IV 1478, authorizing Ferdinand and Isabella to incarcerate, exile, torture and execute herectics, protestants, and non-Christains. At the time, Spain wasn't a united nation, but a league of separate kingdoms.
The Spanish kingdoms were ethnicaly and spiritually diverse, with Christians, Muslims, and Jews occuping the same regions. The Inquisition would proceed for the next three and half centuries, as tribunals were in charge in each region.
Positions included: Arresting Constable, Prescuting Laywer ( yes, lawyers in the 1400s), Inquisitor judges, a scribe, plus a Grand Inquisitor, a clergy member chosen by Ferdinand and Isabella as a medievel Supreme Court Justice. In each region, the Inquisition was introduced with an ''Edict of Grace'', forty days to either confess to ''heresy'' or fless the country.
