  • The question before the House is one of awful moment to this country. For my own part, I consider it as nothing less than a question of freedom or slavery; should I keep back my opinions at such a time, through fear of giving offense, I should consider myself as guilty of treason towards my country.
  • Are we disposed to be of the number of those who, having eyes, see not, and, having ears, hear not, the things which so nearly concern their salvation? For my part, whatever anguish of spirit it may cost, I am willing to know the whole truth; to know the worst, and to provide for it.

  • Henry states in this paragraph how Britain has not made its people feel at home in the country and they have ignored their petitions and have declared war on the people who live here. he is using pathos by using certain words to make the British seem deceiving and cruel for starting a war.

  • Henry in this paragraph says that they have argued and done everything they could to try and stop the British from declaring war on the U.S.. he is using logos to show the people what they have done to try and get out.
  • Patrick Henry states in this paragraph that no matter what they have done the British have denied and fought against everything, so this means the only thing left to do is fight for their freedom. he is using pathos again to tell the people they need to fight to earn their freedom.
  • Henry says that the people that live here and are willing to fight are prepared, and no one should not involve themselves, because if they truly care about the country and about freedom they will fight, henry says he would rather die than live without freedom. he is using pathos by asking the people that if life is so nice then fight for it.
