- In Northumberland Hotel, London a guest is in a bad temper. He comes out of his room with a boot in his hand.

- Boots! Boot-boy! Boots!
- I don’t know about British customs yet but I hope to loose one of your boots is not a part of the ordinary routine.

- The hotel manager enters
- I dont know sir. I-I'll look for it. I'll find it, sir, I promise-
- Then where in tarnation is it?
- Get out and find it Boot-Boy!
- Is there a problem Sir Henry?
- I left a pair of boots out last night to be cleaned. Today one boot is missing.
- I assure you it will be found. I will supervise the search personally.
- Oh, this arrived in this morning post.
- Who knows I am here?
