- (trying to get the attention of friends) Hey guys! Have you heard about Quickfix (made up product brand) weight loss pills? It claims that it can help you lose weight, to get that summer body.
- Yeah. We did.
- Those things don’t work and plus they have harmful ingredients. You might end up getting sick if you take those.
- Well, I have a couple of pounds to lose by summer and it seems like to me that it is a good fit for my needs. It claims to help you lose weight fast and keep it off. The models looked really great in their bikinis and I want to look like them.
- Conclusion: There are a lot of different weight loss and fitness supplements that advertise quick weight loss, boosts your metabolism, gives you energy and so on. These products promote negative body image by advertising using models that conforms to the “social standard of beauty” that the media portrays. It makes the consumers think that they need to purchase products such as these to be able to look better and be more attractive.
