Today is Tet and Ha is happy. Brother Quang, Khoi and Mother are there. Her father is MIA and that is left of him is mother's wedding ring. She then gets mad that Brother Khoi blesses the house. So she taps her toe on the tile.

Saigon is destroyed by North Vietnam and now Ha and her Family has to leave to Alabama. She wonder if father is in Alabama.

In Alabama Ha and her family is taken in by a Cowboy or at least a man who looks like a cowboy. Ha then goes to school. Brother Vu forces everyone to call him Vu lee.
A pink boy is bullying Ha so one day after school she got Vu lee to come while she was being chased by Pink Boy and scare him. It worked and Pink boy leaves never to bully again.
Today is Tet, and Ha has her favorite food except it is diffirent. It has diffirent beans and pork. It is not the same but not bad. Also mother's wedding ring is lost confirming father is dead.
