- Following the radicals' takeover, the monarchy was terminated in September of 1792, with a vote in favor of establishing a republic instead.
- I can't believe we finally got rid of the monarchy !
- Yes, but what comes next? We need to make sure that the new government represents the people.
- Prologue :The French Revolution was a movement by the people of France who were unhappy with the oppressive rule of the monarchy and sought to establish a more democratic and egalitarian society. The revolution began in 1789 with the storming of the Bastille prison in Paris and lasted until 1815, when Napoleon was defeated at the Battle of Waterloo. The revolution was driven by factors such as economic inequality, political corruption, and a desire for greater freedom and equality, influenced by Enlightenment ideas. The revolution led to the establishment of a republic, the Reign of Terror, and the rise of Napoleon, who eventually became Emperor of France. The French Revolution paved the way for the establishment of modern democracies and the emergence of nationalism as a political force.
