- They have their first kiss at the opening of the Auckland Harbour Bridge.
- Alex and Andy go sailing together and there is lots more kissing.
- Andy is on his bike at night and gets hit by a drunken driver in his Jaguar car.
- Alex is very sad, but she goes to Andy's funeral, and then visits his Mum and Dad at Christmas.
- Alex wins her big swimming race for Andy and she gets to go to the Rome Olympics.
