In the novel “Great Expectations” true Friendship is an important theme. Despite how Pip changes throughout the novel his true friends remain loyal to him.

Regardless, that Biddy knows Estella is not a good person for Pip, she still aids him in learning and becoming educated. She serves as the voice of reason and constantly reminds Pip how poorly he treats others.

The second person who remains faithful is Joe, who is like a brother and father to Pip and never forsakes him. Joe even pays off Pips obscene debt from a lifestyle he couldn’t keep up with.

Finally, his friend Herbert even remains loyal and assists Pip by providing him a job after Pip is nearly thrown in debtors prison.
