- An example of this is when the Duke falls in love with Olivia, who end up marrying Sebastian, however it all changes when he learns that Cesario is really Viola.

- Social Climbers: Many of the characters are ludicrous and will do anything for status!
- Love Triangles: Olivia loves Cesario, Cesario loves the Duke, Orsino loves Olivia.
- Comedic Language through motifs
- Gender Bending is a common motif as well as misdirected love. Here Antonio has a 'strong' love for Sebastian that is not reciprocated.
- The twin siblings are reunited. Sebastian marries Olivia and the Duke marries Viola.
