Nyctophobia part 1

One night my family had left me at home alone so I could finish a research paper.
Then all of a sudden the lights went out and I was left in pitch black as my lights and computer had shut off. I shot out of my chair as I heard a distant scream
I couldn't see anything in the darkness as I fumbled my way through the darkness and to the front door. My heart was beginning to pound so hard I could hear it in my ears.
Are they a late night FedEx delivery person?
Is this gonna be like taken? Am I about to get took?
I made my way out into the darkness of night and saw that the entire block had lost power. I could only make out shapes and my mind started to make out scary faces in the dark.
It was then that I saw a dark ominous figure standing across the street. My mind raced with the countless possibilities as to who it could be or what they could want.
My imagination ran rampant with the intentions of this individual. From simple package delivery or trying to kidnap me. I was immediately snapped out of my worry as the figure began walking across the street towards me.
Did they cut the power?
