Storyboard Text

  •  In this alternate, dystopian timeline of late 20th century England, I, Kathy H, am the protagonist. I narrate this story in a chatty, informal voice, taking you through my relationships and memories.
  • Ruth, Tommy and I, grew up in an exclusive, educational institute, Hailsham. We were maintained by Guardians who groomed us for our purpose in life - to be become donors.
  • During our meticulous education, alongside the weekly medical examinations, a great deal of emphasis was put upon health education, sex education and art. The best art was chosen for an elusive 'gallery.'
  • We were often told we were 'special', although we never did fully understand, or question why, or how.
  • We soon realise being 'different' is not so special. During an encounter with Madame, she avoids us out of fear, an irrational one, like arachnophobia.
  • Miss Lucy, tries to tell us what it really means to be clones- what that entails for our future, hopes and dreams. As clones, we were destined to donate our vital organs until we 'complete.'
