In his story Harrison Bergeron, Kurt Vonnegut makes the point that complete equality throughout society is not always good. He establishes this by showing some of the negative consequences by showing a subpar music and dance performances, and the daily struggle that George faces. This shows that making everyone equal in a society is not a good thing, as you have to bring everyone down to the level of the worst person. Vonnegut uses this to ridicule some of the progressive members of society, who want this complete inequality.
