- Two leaders in Bavaria, von Lossow and von Kahr had previously pledged to support the putsch. On October 4th on von Kahr and von Lossow called off the putsch and ended their support for it. This was a crushing blow to Hitler as he needed their support. He would not be able to take power in Munich without their support. but that didn't stop him.

- On November 8th 1923 Hitler stated his putsch by storming into a beer hall in which Von Kahr and Von Lossow were speaking. He used 600 SA troops to intimidate them into supporting his putsch and fighting against the Weimar Government. However, Von Kahr betrayed Hitler by calling in state police. Even though Hitler had Ludendorff's support, the army and police did not follow him.
