- You guys made an unnecessary assumption about her instead of just asking what she enjoys doing.
- You guys made an assumption about me being good at basketball based on the way I look.

- I'm sorry. I guess I just assumed you would enjoy this because I always see people who look like you when watching basketball and athletics on television.

- Mom, I think our family's attempts at being progressive are unfortunately racist because you've formed certain assumptions based on what the media tells you.
- In all honesty we are trying to be progressive and inclusive people.

- I'm assuming that the other day my sister made certain assumptions too and this is all harmful. In the act of attempting to be progressive, people can be even more racist. This can be done when signaling out someone, like you guys did, or making assumptions about an entire community that simply are not true.

- It is fine, just moving forward this family needs to take after your son and needs to learn the correct ways to be inclusive.
