In Ancient Greek they lived no where near farmland. And had very limited farmland. Instead they lived near the sea where they learned a new hobby.

Greece people decided to learn how to sail to go to other continents and have access to better farmland. 
10-year battle
Greece people were discussing new hobbies they could do, and learning how to do military training.
Trojan Horse
Prince Paris persuaded Queen Helen into coming home with him to his city-state, and eventually she agreed. She goes on a boat with him and goes to his city-state, Troy. The king Greek wakes up only to realize his wife, Helen didn't come home and had disappeared.
After the King found out where Helen went, he sent troops every day to start a war with the city-state troy. Troy had really high and protected walls and they weren't able to go through it.  After 10 years, the general came up with the idea of giving them a "gift,"
The general came up with the idea of giving them a "gift" to show them they are surrendering. But really they are hiding a couple of soldiers in the Trojan horse and turning their ships back during the night to take Helen.
