- The three witches say that the time has come to meet macbeth. They chant as they throw repulsive ingredients as lizard's leg into the cauldron to make a sickening brew. Hecate congratulates the three witches.
- Scene 2
- The witches show their apparitions. An armed head warns macbeth to beware of macduff. A bloody child says that no naturally born man can harm him and the third apparition promises that macbeth will not be defeated until birnam wood comes to dunsinane. Macbeth asks for more information about the future and the witches present a procession of eight kings and Banquo. Macbeth then resolves to kill every member of macduff's family while Macduff is in England.
- Scene 2
- Macbeth enters and challenges the witches to answer his questions.
- Scene 3
- Lady Macduff demands to know why her husband went to england. She thinks it is because of madness,fear or lack of love of his family. Ross tells her that Macduff knows better and that he knows times are difficult but it will get better
- A messenger warns lady macduff that terrible danger is coming and tells them to run away, they refuse because they have done nothing wrong. Shortly after three murderers enter kill macduff's son and pursue Lady Macduff to murder her.
- Macduff urges malcolm to help defend Scotland wich is suffering under Macbeth being king. But Malcom doesn't trust Macduff he thinks he is going to betray him to Macbeth. Ross reports that Scotland is suffering .He tells the murder of Macduff's family. Malcolm tries to comfort Macduff. Macduff wants revenge
