- The narrator introduced as Poe tries to prove his sanity to the readers even though he killed a man over his deformed eye.
- Poe lived in the same building as the old man who's eye was quite disturbing. He says that the old mans eye is like a vultures eye. Poe said that when ever the eye laid upon him it made him anxious.
- The next eight days Poe plots to kill the old man to get rid of the "eye". Each he sneaks into the old mans room to see if the is open.
- On the eighth night the old mans eye was open so Poe went in and suffocated the old man to death. Poe then cut up the old man and stuff the old man in the floor boards happy that he no had to see the old mans eye.
