In the First Chapter of The Great Gatsby our characters Nick Carraway drives from West Egg to East Egg to meet up with our future characters Daisy Buchanan and Tom Buchanan for dinner.

In the First Chapter of The Great Gatsby our characters Nick Carraway, Daisy Buchanan, and Tom Buchanan are having a dinner date. Daisy Buchanan is sharing about the birth of her baby girl.
Chapter 3
In the 2nd Chapter of The Great Gatsby towards the end we see an altercation between Tom Buchanan and Mrs. Wilson. I believe that this stand off shows the characterization in Tom Buchanan.

In chapter 3 of The Great Gatsby we get a look at Gatsby life and the fact he throws a party almost everyday. New comers and older who have been to the party's reintroduce themselves everyday without a care of actually remembering them.
In chapter 3 of The Great Gatsby towards the end when the party was ending there was a commotion outside with a guest that had crashed his vehicle into the ditch. This shows us and the characters that outside of Gatsby's party is when reality kicks in.
