Rose expresses that Troy is someone whose actions quietly drain the people who love him. Rose says , "You take and don't even know nobody's giving" (Wilson 68). Tory doesn't just hurt people in obvious ways, he slowly exhausts them by benefiting from their love, care, and sacrifice without fully recognizing what it costs them. There are supporters around them and he takes it for granted.
