- An atom is the smallest unit of an element. Atoms are made up of protons, neutrons, and electrons. They can vary in size depending on the element, they are in constant motion and are mostly made up of empty space.

- Biodiversity is the variety of life found in an area. It is often measured by counting the number of species in a specific habitat or ecosystem.For example amazon rainforest which has over 200 species of hummingbird, is more biodiverse than Ontario which has only a single species.

- A Comet is a chunk of ice, dust and rocks that travel in a very long orbit around the sun.When a comet gets close to the Sun, it glows. This creates a bright tail that can stretch across the night sky.

- Homogeneous mixtures is a type of mixture whose component parts cannot be easily separated.An example of this is salt and water because because the salt completely dissolves into the water, meaning that the salt particles are evenly distributed throughout the water.
