- The Overthrow of Charles I
- Charles was hated because there was tension with parliament about money. In 1629 he released parliament and decided to do things on his own and this made him extremely unpopular to others.
- The Restoration of the Stuart Monarchy
- The people fighting in the English Civil War, were the people who supported King Charles, the Cavaliers or Royalists, and the people loyal to parliament, the Roundheads. They were fighting because there were complaints that grew and that causes both groups to go to war in 1642.
- The Glorious Revolution

- After the war was over, there was an event called Rump Parliament which the whole point was to overthrow King Charles I. This took event on January 30, 1649.
- The English Bill of Rights
- This new law, the English Bill of Rights will limit the Monarch's power !!
- Parliament continued to be a big part in the government and kept most of the power they had gained. Parliament had to give it's consent to taxation as well but on the other hand, Charles ignored it and continued to put out his own ideas. Most of the English people did not agree with this.

- A few of the English Nobles had invited the Dutch leader, William of Orange to intrude England. They invited him to do this because in the invitation, they let William know that most of the people from the kingdom wanted a change. James II had not suspected a thing until early October in 1688.
- Parliament made this new law, The English Bill of Rights, also known as "Rule of Law". This limited the monarch's power and made everyone equal/have the same laws.
