One month later
After one month of being stranded on an island because of a storm, the crew's food supply runs out. One fine day, Odysseus goes on his merrily way and prays to the gods. Soon he falls asleep. During this time, Eurylochus convinces the rest of the men that starving is a terrible way to die, and they should give in and eat the cattle, accepting the punishment Helios will give them.

After eating all the cattle, all of Odysseus's men die. Zeus starts another storm that destroys the boat and sends a lighting bolt to kill all the men. Odysseus is then stranded on Ogygia, Calypso's island, for 7 years till Hermes comes to the rescue and tells Calypso to let Odysseus go.
