- The story all started with the Americans going into Africa and putting the African people on slave ships.One of those people was a family of 4 there was a mother and father. Then the two kids Thomas who was 10 and his sister Emily, who was 7.
- When they got to America some had already died because of the conditions. Then they went to the action block to be sold to the highest bidder. Tomas's family went to a wheat farm in Virginia. Slavery was very high there.
- Then they made there way to there new home in Virginia. The houses were not good at all. They were very tight an. Some didn't even have beds in them. If they did it was only one for the hole family. They were not happy. They just wanted to be free.
- We have to be very quiet.
- They had to work in the harshest conditions. Sometimes the children wouldn't see their parents all day. When They worked in the fields there where men who made sure the slaves were doing their work. If they didn't they would get whipped.
- A little while later, Tomas and Emily's Mother died and there Father was sold to another farm. They were very sad.
- A week later they dicided to run away and be apart of the underground railrode.
