While he appears as a loving father figure, his participation in the lie damages his credibility.Pathos:His return triggers a strong emotional reaction, especially in Truman, who cries when he sees him. This reunion is meant to emotionally manipulate Truman so he stops questioning his reality. For the audience, it’s also a highly emotional moment due to the apparent father-son reunion.

- Ethos:Marlon, Truman’s best friend since childhood, is seen as a loyal and constant support. His role as a trusted friend gives him a credible appearance, but since he is part of the deception, his ethos becomes false and manipulative.Pathos:Marlon appeals emotionally when he tries to calm Truman at key moments. One of the most intense moments is when he says: "If nothing’s real, then I’m not real." This line is meant to create compassion and doubt, both in Truman and the audience, even though we know he is also manipulating him.
