I am Imhotep, the first civil engineer known by name. I built the step pyramid at Saqqarah, Egypt.
Civil engineering is the oldest engineering practice after military engineering. We used empirical methods such as, arithmetics, geometry and physical science, to make the wonders of the world.
In construction, medieval engineers carried techniques unknown to romans. The sketchbook of 13th century French engineer, Villard de Honnecout, revealed an unknown knowledge of mathematics, natural science and draftsmanship.
