- We meet our characters and their relations. Daisy and Tom are married, Daisy is Nick's cousin, Tom went to school with Nick, later we see a relationship begin with Jordan and Nick. In this scene we also find out Tom is having an affair with a woman named Myrtle.
- We now meet Gatsby, a rich man who throws marvelous parties and everyone knows his name. He befriends his neighbor Nick. Which was also to help him get close to Daisy who he was in love with from high school.
- Daisy and Gatsby finally meet and they begin to have an affair. One afternoon Daisy invites everyone to a luncheon which is when Tom realizes that Gatsby is in love with Daisy and Daisy recklessly remarks that she loves Gatsby. This makes Tom jealous and wants to pick a fight with Gatsby. So had them all drive into New York.
- Gatsby explains to Tom that Daisy doesn't love him and that he never loved him and that he's "not going to take care of Daisy anymore". Letting us know they can have a happy marriage.Then everyone starts hearing how there was an incident in The Valley of Ashes. We learn that Daisy runs over a Myrtle in Gatsby's car.
- Myrtle's widowed husband George, goes to Tom to ask who hit his wife and killed her. Tom lies and says it was Gatsby, so George goes to his house sees him and shoots him dead in his pool. Nick is the one who finds Gatsby the next morning.
- In the end, Nick tries to get people to come to Gatsby's funeral where he realizes how lonely Gatsby was. He didn't have any real friends other then Nick. (I put this scene in just because I thought how Gatsby filled his house with people every night yet none could actually say they met him. It makes you feel terrible.)
