- Boaz went the the city gate and sat down by the redeemer and he told him about Naomi and Ruth. There was a land he could by and with the land came Ruth the daughter in law of Naomi. The redeemer said he could not so Boaz accepted.
- Boaz took Ruth and she became his wife and they had a child together and named him Obed. They rejoiced at having an heir to the house. Naomi became his nurse.
- Now these are the generations of Perez: Perez fathered Hezron, Hezron fathered Ram, Ram fathered Amminadab, Amminadab fathered Nahshon, Nahshon fathered Salmon, Salmon fathered Boaz, Boaz fathered Obed, Obed fathered Jesse, and Jesse fathered David.
