In the story, Kurt Vonnegut does use satire to emphasize and criticize the extreme unfair treatment of people to maintain 'equality'. I believe his main goal was to make us question what was right, wrong, and unfair in our society by exploiting all of these things within his story. Such as women using their voices or showing their beauty - In his story, they are supposed to hide all of the traits society deemed competitive. If you're too much of something, you become handicapped so that others feel comfortable. And it's ironic because in reality, if you are better at something than someone else, others get jealous and want to make you feel like you should step down to their level or lower so they feel comfortable. Also within his story, he exaggerates the extreme measures people in society will do to bring others down for expressing themselves in whatever manner.
