- Oedipus makes an announcement to the dying city of Thebes that encourages the murder of King Laius to step forward so the worst that happens to them is getting banished.
- Fellow people of Thebes! I, your amazing king Oedipus, will figure out the reason for why this city is dying . I will find the person who killed King Laius, and when I do, they will be greatly punished and banned from Thebes!
- BOOOOOO!!! NO ONE LIKES YOU!!!! GIVE UP YOUR ROLE AS KING!!!
- "Whoever among you knows the man it was who murdered Laius...I order him to reveal it all to me. And if the murderer’s afraid, I tell him to avoid the danger of the major charge by speaking out against himself. If so, he will be sent out from this land unhurt—and undergo no further punishment."

- Tiresias! Blind man, look for the truth and tell me who killed king Laius!

- Dude, it was you. And you're also sleeping with your mother.
- Oedipus calls for the blind prophet, Tiresias, to tell give him the answers to his questions, but when he hears the truth, he accuses them of lies.
- So go on, keep insulting Creon and my prophecies, for among all living mortals no onewill be destroyed more wretchedly than you.

- Oedipus is accusing Creon of trying to get him banished from Thebes so he becomes king.
- Jocasta:Boy please stop acting like children! Fighting won't help with anything!
- Creon, you traitor! You're sending me a prophet to accuse me of fake things because you just want to take my place as king!
- You stubborn, hot-headed, fool! I don't want to be king, it's too stressful! Anyways the people of Thebes already look up to me since I act as more of a king than you. And whatever Tiresias is telling you must be true so I would listen.
- In your view, would anyone prefer to rule and have to cope with fear rather than live in peace, carefree and safe, if his powers were the same? I, for one, have no natural desire to be king.
