- Dumbling's brothers went to the forest and now Dumbling wants to go so he went.
- He meets an old man who is thirsty and hungry. The old man asked, "May I drink of your drink and eat of your food?" Dumbling answered " Of course!" and he shared his drink and food.
- The old man was grateful, and he told Dumbling to chop down the old tree, and then the old man disappeared.
- Dumbling did it, and found a golden goose.
- Dumbling desided to to live happily in the forest with the goose.
