Meanwhile, at work....
Hey boss. I'm not feeling so well. I'm getting really tired and hot. Is it alright if I take a break?
Absolutely not! We have to get this project done, so until then keep working!
Горка: 6
Boss, please. You've had me work overtime every day this week. I'm feeling pretty stressed and overworked.
Горка: 7
Fine. You can take a 5 minute break. But it's coming out of your paycheck!

After work and school, Jose and his dad returned home
Ugh. What a horrible day at work, but my paycheck came in so hopefully it can redeem my day

*door shuts* Hey everyone!
Hey honey! How was work?
Hey dad!!
Горка: 10
Oh no. Payday.
It was alright. The boss gave me a break today, but he said it would come out of my paycheck. It came in the mail today.

*Riipppppp*

And that was it. Once every other week when payday would come, we would sit and wait for it to decide how the next few days would unfold. Payday was the true boss of my week and my family.

When we heard my dad rip open bills, we knew to stay in our room. If my dad was angry at his bosses, we didn't know.
There were no bosses in our house, only us listening to envelopes being ripped waiting.
Remembering from my desk, I want to lighten my dad's shadow. Make him neat the way my sociology textbooks describe the working class: overworked, anxious, tired.
