- Newbery Honor winning author Beverly Cleary was born in McMinnville, Oregon in 1916. She wrote many beloved children's books such as the Ramona Quimby series, Dear Mr. Henshaw, and Runaway Ralph. She passed away at the age of 104 in March of 2021.
