Johannes Kepler and the Laws of Planetary Motion | Johannes Kepler was a German scientist who dedicated his life trying to understand the movement of celestial bodies. He is most famous for his three laws of planetary motion. These laws state that planets move in ellipses not circles, that the fastest part of their orbit is when the planet is closest to the Sun, and that planets that are further away from the Sun move more slowly than those that are closer.
