- Jackson was successful in his duty of the Indian Removal Act. Many southern white males were supporters of Jackson because they believed that removal of Native Americans would lead to economic expansion, greater access to land for farming, and Manifest Destiny. There was also critics who believed that Jackson was abusing his power since he ignored the ruling of John Marshall, and they believed it was inhumane.
