I'm really impressed..what you did was rightbutyou mjst firstknow what exactly occurs.What was supposed to happen was a neutralization reaction. It's the reaction between an acid and base that nullifies each other's effect resulting in a change to pH closer to neutral. By putting an alkaline you had to increase the pH to restore your skin to normal.

Oh haha that well is because that was not a bee sting...it was a wasp sting
Now this is a tough situation when you can identify the insect..Unlike bees ,wasp stings are ctually alkaline so..

We just found its nest in the garage during the spring clean up.
